Mission Statement
Cockerton Methodist Church is a fellowship of Christian believers seeking to glorify God, to grow in Christ and to be empowered by the Holy Spirit.
We are called by God to proclaim Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour; to provide an environment where the seeker may find Him; to be a place of worship, healing and prayer; and to further God's kingdom in the world. In WORSHIP we seek to celebrate God's presence. His love for us in Jesus Christ and the dynamic of the Holy Spirit, through a broad variety of worship experiences and the offering of our daily lives. In our DISCIPLESHIP ministry we seek to call people to Christ, nurture them in the faith, and help them live out that faith. In providing PASTORAL CARE we seek to create a nurturing environment where brokenness can be healed and people discover their full potential in Christ. We are called to SERVE, and will seek to identify those specific needs, spiritual, material and physical, that we arc called to serve in the local community and where possible to effect such service. We treasure our CHILDREN & YOUNG PEOPLE and will never forget the responsibility the whole Church family bears to 'so maintain a life of worship and service together that...all the children among us may grow in grace and in the knowledge and love of God and of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.' We have a responsibility to SUPPORT THE WIDER MISSION of the Church in this country and in the World Church. To this end we undertake to make ourselves aware of such work and do all in our power to support it. We shall exercise such stewardship of our RESOURCES, FINANCES, PROPERTY & PEOPLE, that our concern shall be not only to maintain them but develop them to provide for the needs determined by the mission God gives us.
